Another Source's client, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, is recruiting a Senior Financial Analyst to join their team in San Jose, California. This position will play a vital role in leading the financial planning efforts across the organization - it is an exciting time to join the team at Housing Trust Silicon Valley!

Position Overview 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll contribute to the Housing Trust’s success through leading the FP&A efforts and working with our lending and other departments to develop budgets, analyze variances, and forecast.  You will develop and maintain short and long-term forecasting models as well as provide analysis of separately managed funds and communicate to outside partners which include some of the largest tech firms in Silicon Valley.  You will put your analytical skills to use to support the CFO in other projects, interface with other senior management, and will also support the Accounting team.  

 

Financial Planning and Analysis 

  • Lead preparation of budgets, analyze, and explain budget versus actual at top level and on department levels – collaborating with senior management. 
  • Re-forecast lending revenue monthly and expenses periodically. 
  • Analyze the organization’s performance against budgets, track KPIs, and provide management and board reporting. 
  • Develop financial models and metrics to support strategic planning, budgeting, and special projects. 
  • Prepare forecasts for programs or quotes for new lines of business and report against actuals. 
  • Review purchase requisitions and work with managers to understand their budget status. 
  • Rating agency reviews - Support annual ratings process by S&P and Aeris. 
  • Support HT Controller and CFO in ensuring policies are adequate and up to date and monitors compliance with policies. 

 

Reporting, Compliance, and Audit 

  • Support reporting to lenders and investors, including soliciting input and information from Accounting and other departments.  
  • Support Accounting team in annual audit preparation and some schedules for monthly close. 
  • Engage in continuous critical analysis of existing systems and processes. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, or related field and at least 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial planning and analysis. Nonprofit finance experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and financial modeling skills 
  • Effectively accumulate and present data, verbally and in written form 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Experience with CRM software, cloud file sharing, accounting systems and expertise in Excel 
  • Proficiency in other standard office software - Outlook, MS Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Operate with the highest degree of integrity 
  • Mission-driven with an interest in Affordable Housing 
  • Strong analytical, time management and critical thinking skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while exhibiting a strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and ability to manage deadlines.
