Another Source’s client, California State University, Chico, is recruiting an Associate Vice President to join their Information Technology Administrative Service Center (IASC) team.

About the role: 

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Information Technology/Chief Information Officer, the Associate Vice President of IT (AVP IT) provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership in support of Chico State’s Students, Faculty, Staff, and Partners. This key leadership role oversees and guides the planning, implementation, support, and ongoing assessment of Chico State’s technical vision and provides a consistent approach so that IT-related decisions are made in line with the institutional strategies and objectives. The AVP enables IT and Digital Transformation programs by ensuring that the IT Division has the skills, resources and practices that are needed to deliver best of breed solutions to the campus community. A primary objective for the AVP of IT is to oversee the operational responsibility for the IT Division to enable the VPIT/CIO to focus externally on executive-level sponsors to sustain and broaden institutional commitment to and investment in IT transformation. 


How you can expect your time to be spent: 


Project and Change Management- 30% 

IT Planning and Strategy – 20% 

Leadership and Management – 20% 

Financial Planning and Vendor Portfolio Management – 10% 

Relationship Development and Management – 10% 

Innovation, Research and Development – 10% 


What you will bring to the team: 

  • 15 years or more of experience as an information-technology leader and contributor 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering (or related field) and 15 years of experience or a combination of relevant professional experience and education to effectively perform the required job functions. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Enterprise applications and ERP systems, end-user support, and project management experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams to meet multiple objectives. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Performance Management, including remote employees, IT Change Management, and IT Service Management best practices. 
  • Demonstrated skill in directing and leading a team to establish and deliver value-added technology products, services, and support for a large-scale, mission-driven organization 
  • Demonstrated experience implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion programs 
  • Experience leading a diverse technology portfolio and implementing enterprise-wide change 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and technical needs into functional, technical requirements with ability to manage large scale efforts across multiple locations. 
  • Ability to sustain an engaged, collaborative, high-performing organizational culture that nurtures career growth, skill development, goal attainment, and customer excellence 
  • Broad knowledge of information technology platforms, architecture, methods, and tools including ITILv.3 or ITILv.4 
  • The ability to influence and drive enterprise-wide transformation for information technology 
  • Skill in effective and efficient management of fiscal resources for an IT organization; in budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis; and in using financial concepts such as return on investment 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and fostering collaborative professional relationships with staff, leaders, business partners, stakeholders, and key executives across a large organization 
  • The verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in an organization 


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 
  • Demonstrated success as a senior leader within higher education information technology 
  • Project Management and Change Management experience and certifications (PMP, PROSCI, CCMP)
