Another Source’s client, San Jose Museum of Art, is recruiting an Individual Giving Officer to join their team. This position offers a hybrid role work schedule of three days on site in San Jose, CA.

About the role:  

As the  Individual Giving Officer, you work alongside the Development team to help drive SJMA forward as we envision and shape it’s future for tomorrow’s audience.  You will serve as the primary liaison for the Museum's Patron members, spearheading the coordination of events and fundraising activities for both the Director's Council and Council of 100. Additionally, you will  collaborate closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Gala co-chairs to conceptualize, execute, and fundraise for SJMA's annual Gala Auction. 

 

The anticipated yearly salary for this position is: $85,950 – $104,500 based on experience.  

 

What you will be doing:  

Fundraising  

  • Raise $500,000+ annually by actively managing SJMA's Director’s Council and Council of 100 fundraising programs and maintaining a dynamic portfolio of donors and prospects capable of giving $5,000+.  
  • Utilize data from the membership and volunteer rosters to identify qualified candidates for the Museum's patron-level donor circles. Formulate and implement robust solicitation, enhancement, and retention tactics to expand SJMA's network for significant individual contributions 
  • Partner closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to devise personalized proposals and specific strategies, goals, and timetables for successful solicitations.  
  • Personally cultivate and steward donors and prospects via various engagement methods (events, meetings, telephone contact, written communications) in coordination with other key stakeholders.  

 

Events  

  • Act as the point person for the Councils Committee and take a lead role in organizing Council events and the Committee’s fundraising activities.  
  • Partner with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Gala Co-chairs to design, implement, and fundraise for the Museum’s annual Gala + Auction.  
  • Actively participate in Gala fundraising efforts to secure sponsorships, table sales, Auction bids, and paddle-raise pledges from individual donors.  
  • Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Committee members to manage Gala solicitation moves.  

 

Administrative  

  • Partner with department and Museum colleagues to create tailored impact reports based on key SJMA metrics and narratives.  
  • In coordination with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and Membership Manager, plan, write, and craft direct mail appeals, program collateral, and development content for Museum publications.  
  • Attend all Development Committee meetings, prepare income and expense budget projections, and provide regular reports and summaries for our patron-level fundraising programs.  
  • In partnership with the Development Associate, participate in the development of individual giving and prospect plan set up and maintenance in CRM  

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS preferred, plus a minimum of three years of individual fundraising with demonstrated success in soliciting and closing five- to six-figure gifts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Experience managing and stewarding a portfolio of diverse donors. Demonstrated success aligning stakeholders around a common vision or objective 
  • Skill in navigating different personality types among internal and external constituencies.  
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; familiarity with Adobe software; CRM experience (working knowledge of Altru or other Blackbaud products, strongly preferred).  
  • Enthusiasm for visual art, education, and community engagement, with a commitment to integrity, kindness, discretion, and personal responsibility.   
  • Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropy preferred.
