The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is $88,250 - $100,000.   

 

About the role:  

This position will provide leadership and direction to payroll processing and accounting staff to ensure all payroll processes are accurate and efficient and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and university policy and procedures. 

 

How you will spend your time: 

  • Leads, trains, and directs two sections (Payroll Operations and Payroll Accounting) of Payroll Services to ensure all payroll procedures are accurately and timely completed in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and university policy and procedures. 
  • Works closely with Associate Controller to develop and maintain partnerships throughout the university; participates in all strategic planning and staffing decisions for the department; assists with interpreting, implementing, and monitoring all payroll regulations to ensure compliance; and partners with Information Technology Services (ITS) on the design, upgrade, implementation, and troubleshooting payroll related systems. 
  • Troubleshoots complex payroll and accounting issues and ensures resolutions. Serves as liaison between the university’s payroll office and state agencies to ensure compliance with the State of Florida’s rules and regulations. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree and four years’ experience related to budget, financial and/or accounting services or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years. 
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and standards of payroll administration, accounting systems and practices. 
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. 
  • Ability to train and supervise employees. 
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation
