Description: What you'll be doing

Another Source’s client, Florida State University, is recruiting a Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to join their team on-site in Tallahassee, FL. 

Help Lead a Campus-Wide Mental Health Mission 

FSU’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is a campus cornerstone in advancing student wellness. The program delivers high-quality clinical care, crisis response, and proactive programming to support student success.  

As the Director, you will serve as the university’s chief mental health administrator leading a dynamic team, shaping strategy, and ensuring exceptional care.

About the Role 

As the chief mental health administrator for the University, the Director provides vision and strategic leadership for CAPS. This includes overseeing the full scope of services—clinical care, outreach, wellness programming, and risk management—while also developing strategic partnerships across campus to ensure a responsive, inclusive, and effective approach to student mental health. 

What You’ll Be Doing  

  • Set the strategic vision for CAPS to address campus-wide mental health needs. 
  • Oversee delivery of counseling services, outreach, crisis response, and clinical supervision. 
  • Supervise embedded clinicians at Panama City campus, College of Law, and University Health Services. 
  • Ensure compliance with licensing bodies (APA, APPIC, IACS) and all relevant laws and risk management protocols. 
  • Serve on FSU’s threat assessment and behavioral intervention teams. 
  • Build and sustain cross-campus partnerships to strengthen mental health alignment. 

Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • Licensed Psychologist in Florida (or eligibility for Florida licensure within 6 months) 
  • Doctorate and 5 or more years’ experience in supervision of professional staff in college or university setting  
  • 6 or more years of professional experience in clinical and/or counseling setting post licensure  
  • 5+ years supervising professional staff, preferably in higher education 

Preferred: 

  • Experience leading mental health services in a large, complex university setting 
  • Supervisory experience with clinical trainees 
  • Familiarity with Titanium (EMR) and CAPS accreditation standards
