Another Source’s client, Scripps College, is recruiting a Stewardship Manager to join their Advancement team in Claremont, CA.

Summary of the Role 

Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Stewardship Manager plays a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the college's donor recognition and stewardship programs. The Stewardship Manager is responsible for developing and managing stewardship communications, creating customized annual reports on endowed funds, and overseeing the strategy and execution of programs for college giving societies. This role requires excellent writing, project management, and relationship-building skills, as well as creativity and flexibility in recognizing donors at all giving levels in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

What you will be doing: 

  • Manage recognition and strategy for Campaign gifts.  
  • Oversee strategy and execution of programs for College giving societies.  
  • Develop and implement strategies for donor recognition and stewardship programming, exercising discretion and independent judgment in determining enhancements that improve donor engagement and retention.  
  • Identify and recommend programming and recognition for volunteers.  
  • Establish and oversee processes and policies around naming opportunities, applying discretion in evaluating requests and ensuring alignment with institutional standards.  
  • Develop and manage customized annual reports on endowed funds to provide donors with financial information and use of their fund.  
  • Direct the development of stewardship communications, determining content, format, and strategy to best demonstrate the impact of philanthropy.  
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of donor-related data, and design stewardship dashboards and reports to inform leadership decision-making and measure program effectiveness.  
  • Develop reports and metrics to track effectiveness of recognition and naming opportunities strategies.  
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Director of Donor Relations, advising on stewardship best practices, donor communications, and recognition opportunities to support long-term fundraising goals.  
  • Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.  
  • Other duties as assigned.   

 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job. 
  • Excellent writing skills, project management skills, ideally has worked in stewardship and donor relations at another organization.  
  • Creativity and flexibility in identifying the tools and resources needed for recognizing donors at all giving levels in a cost-effective and efficient manner.  
  • Experience utilizing various software applications, such as Blackbaud products, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Excel, ThankView, MailChimp, etc.  
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituencies.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $75k – 85k  

 

Hours & Classification and Status: 

This is a temporary status, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.  

 

The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.  

 

This position is expected to end on or before June 30, 2029. This position may be extended upon mutual agreement between the parties and the availability of funding.
