At a glance

Risk Management leaders - this is an opportunity to shape how risk is approached across an entire university.

Cal State Long Beach is seeking its next Risk Manager to lead the campus risk management function and a small, experienced team.

This is more than a technical risk role. Cal State Long Beach is looking for a leader who can assess risk thoughtfully, exercise sound judgment, and help campus partners find a path forward - not simply tell them what they can’t do.

From major campus events and student travel to contracts, insurance, claims, and emerging risks, this role touches nearly every corner of the university. You’ll partner across Legal, Procurement, IT, EHS, campus leadership, and the broader CSU system while helping build a more proactive, responsive, and customer-focused approach to risk management.

Strong risk expertise matters, but so do leadership, judgment, relationship-building, and the ability to make confident decisions when the answer isn’t black and white.

Higher education experience isn’t required. We welcome professionals from government, public sector, and other complex organizations who are ready to bring their experience to The Beach.
